Highlights: Presentation of motorbike to Ps Jirun, scoring 1-4, 0-3 against Form III and Form I of Timbua Secondary School, Mini concert at Tibabar, house cleansing at Darmakan, ministry to students at new church, Lobou Baru, children ministry, main Sunday service

This trip was a combined WoW-Y2J-Fizz (essentially those members of 7-Up group who were not in the original Fizz CG trip in October 2003), to give them a feel for what interior mission is all about.

My report will give a general account of the overall activities which occurred and a more detailed proposal on the proposed Evangelistic Mission Trip to Tagibang will follow.

Saturday morning was pure fun for all the members during our journey to Tibabar. Even the tyre puncture to Michael Wan’s vehicle halfway at Togis provided comic relief to the convoy – his spare tyre could not be removed, neither could David Soo’s because they both had them underneath. Ronald’s spare tyre placed at the back had to be used.

The eager bunch from Skyline before set off at SIB Likas

Upon arrival at the new church at Timbua, we were met by Jirun who showed the entourage around the premises, and we slowly led him to one of the vehicles to unveil a gift to answer his prayer for the last 4 years – a nice ‘comel’ motorbike! I told him (in answer to his questions later what the terms were) it’s a gift which the Lord wants him to have to use for His work and to do it more effectively, there is no ‘monthly deductions’ but he has to look after it as a good steward of God’s property.

Later on the group proceeded to Timbua football field to play a couple of games with the students who trashed Skyline 1- 4 (Form III) and 0 – 3 (Form I). The 20 minutes with  Form III team was like eternity! We opted for 10 minutes with the Form I students. We had one ex-state player (David Chia) but they had 2 current state players! Shaw Fung and Michael Wan sustained injuries serious enough to disable them from driving and take leave on Monday! But praise the Lord, this is something that the group needed to bond together, as well as begin a connection with the school. The deputy warden an SIB member and the coach received us very well and gave us  drinks. We gave them a ball as a remembrance.

After the exhausting game, almost all welcome the idea of a cool swim in the river and this swim was a favourite of all who took the dip! The children wanted to go again the next day! Those who could not make it to the river because of injury (Shaw Fung) missed their bath.

The visit to Darmakan was postponed to next day because we took extra time in changing the tyre, playing football and enjoying the river!

That evening we held a mini-concert with Wellon, Beny, Florence and Laurentius providing the vocals and music; unfortunately the generator was not co-operating with us and we could not use all our instruments – a lesson for us for our preparation to go to Tagibang for the evangelistic mission. Anyway we gave them our best and prayed that God would do the rest.

The worship team quartet

David Cheah presented an item playing guitar and harmonica together.

Hannah presented a skit where she interviewed various Bible characters who were obedient to the Lord’s calling – Abraham, Moses, the little boy with the loaves and fish and the widow who made bread for Elijah.

Benjy sharing

The Lord will require you to give even the most precious thing in your life, but when you surrender it to God, He uses it to bless you and others. Benjy shared the Word based on Psalm 34:4. When you seek the Lord  and find Him, grab on to Him, do not let go. He will surely answer your prayers, as He promised because He is not a liar. Put the Lord first in all your dealings and He will bless you and give you His rest, His peace.

Ladies ministering to the ladies

The men ministering to the men

On Sunday, the group split in three groups, one group led by Michael going to Lobou Baru to minister to the students in the new church, one group led by Laurentius going to Darmakan and the third group staying behind to minister to the ladies. Wellon shared the word at Lobou Baru. All the students went up for prayer. Click here

The ladies meeting

At Darmakan, a new household  has been added to the believers where the family received the Lord just two weeks ago. We were invited to this house for prayer and cleansing and to pray for the husband who has been sick with asthma or may be bronchitis. We removed some items which were not wholesome.

We came together again at aound 11.00 am and proceeded on with the main service, with Joanna giving her testimony of how the Lord has removed all her fears of what will happen tomorrow since she put her trust in the Lord. Ronald shared the Word on adversity and how we need to learn to put our trust in God at all times so that when we are faced with adversity, He will be the first one we turn to. It seemed that God tested him in what he preached when his car broke down right smack at the traffic light near Putra Jaya Telipok, but he was not worried! Praise God.

While waiting for the team from Lobou Baru, Shaw Fung took the children for the Sunday school. He had such fun he forgot about his injured foot! All were blessed! Amen.

Luk 22:26 But this is not the way it is with you; rather, the greatest one among you must be like the youngest, and the leader must be like the servant.

Luk 22:27 Who is greater, the one who sits down to eat or the one who serves? The one who sits down, of course. But I am among you as one who serves.
